Tower Ruins [The Myconid Tower]

We’ve stumbled across a myconid burial ground and its protectors.

There is a dying myconid in the tower ruins. As we approach we find it in its final death throws. Once it perishes, there is a small area with 14 gold inside the ruins.

  • With Jaheira in the party, she is able to somewhat translate what the Myconids are thinking (6000 xp).
  • Glint suspects we’ve upset the mushroom man. He’s right (6000 xp).
  • M’Khiin hears voices of dead myconids telling her there’s a body to the north in the tree-tower.

Upon searching the ruins, a myconid elder shows up. Besides their anger, we are unable to understand them and we end up killing the leader and his friends (Myconid Bloom-Sac).

Ogre Bandit Camp [Murs and the Brigands]

As Murs‘ champion we can help her become leader by killing Arbinge & Cheski and rescue Chief Slug

The ogres leader, Slug, has been kidnapped by the “Shiners” and they appear to be arguing over who will become the next chief. If we can help Murs’ we can enlist the ogres help against the Argent Crusade…err…”Shiners.”

  • We can totally kill everyone!
    • Arbinge (1400 xp)
    • Cheski (1400 xp)
    • Murs (2000 xp, Morningstar +2)
  • Let Arbinge & Cheski duke it out to determine the next chief as we go elsewhere.
  • Fight and kill Arbinge & Cheski alone or fight them as Murs’ champion to become the next ogre chief.
    • Murs wants us to find her mate, Chief Slug, in the underground caverns.
      • Once we agree to help rescue Slug, we can request the ogres aid us in our battle against the Argent Crusade (unspecified xp).

Murs and Slug [The Dungeon Slug]

If we decide to save Slug, we’ll see him reunited with Murs upon returning to the Ogre Bandit Camp and we will be rewarded with a family ring (6000 xp, Ring of Fire Resistance).

Murs tells Slug his days of fighting the “Shiners” are over.

Kaelet & Umar [Drow Runaways]

Do our eyes deceive us?

Much to our surprise, Kaelet and Umar made it out of the Underground River caverns. Slug and Murs have allow them to stay with their group so long as they pull their weight. While the two are grateful for our assistance they offer no xp or reward.

Hidden Cache [Den of Thieves]

A pile of loose boulders with a hidden cache beneath them.

Rhynwis was true to her word, the cache she mentioned is just east of the crusader camp. We just had to cull a handful of ankhegs to get to it (Harold +2, 527 gold, misc. gems). Of course…it’s booby trapped.

Goblin Raiders [M’Khiin Grubdoubler]

Goblin raiders.png

We are taken by surprise by some raiders, Battuks & Raggemos, who want us to pay a toll to pass. If M’khiin is with us they will attempt to recruit/abduct her into their little gang and she will attack them with her summoned spirits.

Spirits will do the trick!
  • Stand up for M’Khiin and allow her to make her own decision (12000 xp)
  • Tell M’Khiin to go with them, she’ll refuse (No additional xp)

If we did not bring the goblin along with us…

  • Pay the toll (-50 per person, 2000 xp)
  • [Str] Say we don’t want to fight and agree to go separate ways (2500 + 2000 xp)
  • Refuse, lie, or threaten, and they turn hostile
    • Battuks Softbelcher (420 xp)
    • Raggemos Ghostrant (420 xp)
    • Sab’n Drooldribbler (270 xp)
    • Sickly T’matta (120 xp)
  • Say we’re a member of the holy crusade:
    • [Cha] Present Caelar’s Seal (2500 + 2000 xp)
    • [Cha] Say we have a part in Caelar’s  plans (2500 + 2000 xp)
    • [Cha] Preparing to join (2500 + 2000 xp)
  • [Str] Bluff them (2000 or 2500 xp, depending on which bluff you manage)

Oak Tree [The Good Druids]

There is something faintly unsettling about this tree, and unnatural quality beneath its bark that is more felt than seen. The great tree’s based does not meet the ground, but rather continues down into a hole in the earth.

Jamven & Chorster are stuck, entangled, and we can choose to cut them free. They want us to help defeat their enemy, the dark druid Ferrusk, who has been corrupting the local wildlife through the large oak tree. They want us to plant an Enchanted Seed at the base of the tree in the dark druid circle. They have little to offer besides helping us get past the crusader encampment gates.

With the dark druid circle destroyed the forest begins to heal.

Crusader Encampment [No Solicitors]

Presenting a Seal of Caelar allows us to stroll right on through to the Underground River.

When we arrive at the gates, we run into a cyclops and several guards. It appears we’ll have to fight our way through. We need the Seal of Caelar to enter. If we agreed to help Jamven & Chorster, forest creatures aid us in the assault on the gate.

  • Present a Seal of Caelar which can be obtain from Maldon Col as part of [The Traitor] quest.
  • Pick pocket a Seal of Caelar from the Cyclops* and show it to him.
  • Roll up our sleeves and tear down the encampment’s defense. If we agreed to help Jamven & Chorster they will aid us in the assault.
    • Cyclops & friends (4000+ xp)
As promised, Jamven & Chorster assist by sending woodland creatures to aid us in our assault on the Crusader Encampment.

*Editor’s Note: Thanks to Renato in the comments.

Rigah & Julann [The Wychlaran and the Berserker]

Rigah & Julann can be found inside the Crusader Encampment.

Rigah and Julann are also on their dajemma, like Minsc and Dynaheir. Except, their personalities are the opposite of our friends from Rashemen.

Rigah and Julann are currently traveling with the crusaders but have not yet committed to their cause. Should they join we would come up against some mighty adversaries on the battle field. However, Julann’s Minsclike behavior has Rigah questioning if he is following the right path. The two of them are going to take some convincing that following Caelar is not in their best interests.

When we visit Kanaglym inside of the Underground River we will discover Hephernaan’s Ritual Notes. Now we need to speak with Rigah and our dialogue choices will see us either “bolster” or “depress” him.

Bolstering Rigah’s resolve.
  • Bolster Rigah, then show Julann the ritual notes, she will question them
    • Rigah will state that their counterparts, Minsc & Dynaheir, trust CHARNAME and so should she
    • [Mage / Sorc.] Tell Julann that you are a fellow wizard and that logic points Hephernaan’s corruption
    • Ask Dynaheir to persuade Julann
    • We can say we saw the ritual performed
      • All the above scenarios see Rigah and Julann agree to leave the crusade (6000xp, +1 Reputation, Dragon Blade +3)
    • Tell Julann she clearly has no interest in the truth, she and Rigah head off to Dragonspear Castle (6000 xp)
Depressing Rigah’s spirts.
  • Depress Rigah, then show Julann the ritual notes, she will question them
    • Ask Dynaheir to persuade Julann
    • [Mage / Sorc.] Tell Julann that you are a fellow wizard and that logic points Hephernaan’s corruption
    • We can say we saw the ritual performed
      • The above scenarios see Rigah & Julann agree to leave the crusade (6000xp, +1 Reputation, Dragon Blade +3)
    • Tell Rigah she’s gone mad, consorting with necromancers
      • “Your refusal to see the evil you’re in league with”… means Julann must be destroyed (6000 xp)
      • “Rigah will endure your foolishness no longer” (6000 xp)
      • “I knew from the start you were my enemy…” (6000 xp)
        • The above scenarios lead to Julann’s death, speak with Rigah and receive his Dragon Blade +3, he will return to Rashemen and await his punishment
    • Tell Julann she clearly has no interest in the truth, she and Rigah head off to Dragonspear Castle (6000 xp)
  • Kill them so they cannot join the crusade
    • Rigah (2000 xp, Dragon Blade +3, Potion of Fire Giant Strength)
    • Julann (4000 xp)
  • Let them join the Crusade (6000 xp), or leave them to their own devices.
    • Choosing this option will mean when we siege Dragonspear Castle they will be among the Crusaders trying to repel us

Editor’s Note: This quest has only popped up with Minsc and Dynaheir in my party.

For the Goblin Raiders, I agreed to stop as I wasn’t interested in a fight Told them that it wouldn’t be much of a fight would it? They let me past and I got 2000 experience.

    Amazing guide!

Just as a contribution, I found out you may pickpocket the cyclops to get a Seal of Caelar, so you can avoid the battle (yeah, you present him his own Seal hahahaha!)

    • Thank you for the kind words. Now I just need to finish it!

    • Nicccce…I somehow managed to get lost in the holiday season and then re-subbed to WoW so I haven’t gotten back to this point in the game in a while. I will definitely make sure to add your contribution. Thanks for commenting!

  3. If Rigah is told to continue follow Julann, it might be impossible to convince her later, or at least 17 charisma wasn’t enough. He can help to kill her later as she turns hostile, then he give us Dragon Blade +3 and leave.

Having M’khiin can talk to the dying mushroom, and having your own character being a druid also allows communication with him
